The Egyptian Fertilizers Production Company "MOPCO" and Petrosafe carried out a strategic practical drill to combat marine oil pollution, named “New Egypt 1,” at the port of Damietta, one of Egypt's largest and most important ports. This was part of Petrosafe's Environmental and Safety Services strategy to support the environmental protection system.
The maneuver was carried out with the participation of marine and river pollution control centers affiliated with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, the Damietta Port Police, the port's marine police, the port's Civil Protection Department, and the Central Customs Authority.
The drill was attended by Rear Admiral Tarek Adly Abdullah, Chairman of the Damietta Port Authority, Eng. Emad Abdel Razek, Chairman and CEO of Petrosafe, Eng. Ahmed Mahmoud El-Sayed, Chairman and CEO of the Egyptian Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO), Chemist Gamal Fathi, Advisor to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Chemist Tamer Ayash, Assistant CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation for Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Protection, and several company heads, geographical committee heads, and representatives from the Environmental Affairs Agency, the Navy, the Chemical Warfare Department, and Border Guard Forces.
The maneuver successfully achieved its intended goals by ensuring coordination and cooperation between all state agencies in managing petroleum spill crisis situations. All attendees praised the excellent organization of the drill, carried out by Petrosafe, MOPCO, the Damietta Port Authority, and all the participating agencies.
