As part of the Egyptian petroleum sector's corporate social responsibility
strategy and the close cooperation between the sector and various civil society
institutions to support Egyptian society in achieving the Sustainable
Development Goals under Egypt's Vision 2030, the Ministry of Petroleum and
Mineral Resources has inaugurated a comprehensive community project for
inclusive education in Damietta Governorate. The inauguration was attended by
officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' corporate
social responsibility department, Engineer Ahmed Mahmoud, Chairman of Mopco,
Mr. Mohamed Hemam, Secretary-General of the Damietta Governorate Diwan, the
Director of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Damietta, the Director of the
Ministry of Education and Technical Education in Damietta, the Director of the
Ministry of Youth and Sports in Damietta, Ms. Evelyn Matt, a member of
Parliament, the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Damietta University, and
the Chairman of the Board of the Islamic Association.
The project is being implemented by Misr Fertilizers Production Company
(Mopco), in collaboration with Rahma Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of
People with Special Needs. The inclusive education support unit encompasses
several key areas, including the construction of the unit, the purchase of
tools, equipment, measurement kits, and educational materials, specialized
training courses for the qualification of specialists, and publicity for the
project leading up to the opening. The aim of the unit is to diagnose and
assess children with special needs, such as those with autism, hyperactivity,
and learning difficulties, and to provide them with morning and evening
sessions conducted by qualified specialists. Additionally, the project includes
training specialists at the center to deliver inclusive education services and
providing support teachers for those who need them. All services provided by
the unit are offered at symbolic prices to cover operational costs and ensure
sustainability.
It is noteworthy that corporate social responsibility initiatives are an integral
part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' operational strategy,
which always considers the social aspect alongside the economic and
environmental dimensions in working towards achieving sustainable development
goals.
